ScribePad for Windows 10 is a Windows application that will let you free your inner writer

It might not be NaNoWriMo yet, but it’s never too late to start working on your magnum opus novel. While there are plenty of apps for this – Scrivener, Celtx – and many more, most of these apps are expensive, and while very functional, won’t work with Windows phones.

ScribePad is a Windows 10 application for writers that aims to make it easy to create novels on your PC. If you’ve read my app spotlights, I first highlighted its older predecessor for Windows Phone – Writers Pad.

Unlike Writers Pad, its predecessor, this app works on both PCs and mobile devices, making it more useful than a mobile-only app.

For non-Windows Phone users, this app is a lightweight and feature-rich enough app that will help you pull out the novel you wanted to write.

It features a light and dark (light gray) theme, as well as support for backing up and restoring your data on different devices through OneDrive or local storage (unfortunately the ability to export to Word documents seems have been cut).

You can detail characters, patterns, create to-do lists with story beats that you can tick off as you go, and more.

For just $ 6.49, it does enough “stuff” to justify its existence. Although if you want that little extra that it doesn’t, you’d better get full – but more expensive – desktop software like Scrivener (which I mentioned before), which will sync with your iPhone – but if not, it should do so in a pinch.

The functionalities of the application are as follows:

  • Make your writing more structured.
  • Manage the characters in your stories.
  • Create to-do lists for your stories.
  • With the snapshot, you can create a version control for your scenes, or just as easily save it where you can restore later.
  • Almost identical functionality from the big to the small screen, with an adaptive design.
  • Works offline, no need for subscription and unnecessary social features
