I never liked having that stupid Whatsapp installed on my phone. Why can’t they make it work on windows independent of phones? !

Skylinestar, August 18, 2022Americans use textingSMS is a technology from the 1980s-1990s, designed at a time when mobile phones had no Internet connectivity, when telecommunications-based systems such as fax machines, pagers, and landlines dominated. It seems that people sometimes prefer to stick with older technology, whether out of habit, convenience, or an unwillingness to change. I guess SMS is good enough for people who just send basic short texts and don’t need to access their messages on a computer. The biggest irony is that WhatsApp was created in the United States, but it is more popular outside the United States.

Modern messaging apps are superior to texting in several ways. Modern messaging apps are Internet-based rather than Telco-based (using Wi-Fi is cheaper than paying 5¢ for each message sent, no international roaming charges), has no restrictions on text length (an SMS is technically always 160 characters), supports sending attachments/videos/photos, supports feature-rich group chats, supports read receipts, supports multiple devices (access on desktops/laptops/tablets).

Anonymous, August 19, 2022So happy. You don’t need your messages anyway. I have a really cheap text, talk and data plan. Using WhatsApp saves me from paying $0.15 per text.

Anonymous, August 17, 2022Bring texting so be cool. Number 1It might just be me, but I haven’t texted for many years now. Everything was done via WhatsApp… Do you really need SMS? I mean, the added features are cool and all. I just wonder if this one is really necessary.

Imagine if they let you use the same account on multiple devices. It would be revolutionary. Instead, they only let you use it on one phone and maybe the web if they feel good.

Anonymous, August 17, 2022Just another way to collect desktop user dataYes indeed. If not how to improve?

You want to have fast performance, no bugs, no crashes. Still, you don’t want to provide data on how to fix things.

You install Steam to play games on your PC.. and yet you haven’t accused steam, have you? They also collect data.

You use Microsoft Windows itself, you think that Microsoft does not collect ANY data?

Stop with this conspiracy and this campaign of fear.
