Will Nintendo Switch download games in standby mode?

Nintendo Switch, like other modern consoles, lets you download games from the internet so you don’t have to worry about keeping up with the physical copies of all your games.

You just need to go to the eShop of your Nintendo Switch console. From there, you can browse the different games, purchase and download any of them as long as you have the storage space available.

This is a very convenient way to build your game library, but you still have to wait for the game to download. It means a lot of downtime before you get a chance to play the games. It would be a great opportunity to put the console into sleep mode, so that you can save some power.

So, can you download Nintendo Switch games in standby mode?

Short answer: Yes

Fortunately, you can easily put your Nintendo Switch into sleep mode while it’s downloading a game in the background.

All you have to do is make sure your download is in progress before going into sleep mode, and you are good to go. The download will continue until it completes or you activate the console again.

Again, this is a great way to save power, whether in the form of battery or electricity, while you are downloading games to your Nintendo Switch.

Maybe take this time to get out and touch some grass or smell the sun. Or you can just do like me and switch to gaming on your PC while you wait for downloads.
